Scaling Agile across your teams helps your organization deliver larger, more complex outcomes by coordinating work streams.
Your program & portfolio level will contain the roles & activities needed to continuously deliver solutions via an Agile Release Train (ART). This is where development teams, stakeholders and other resources are devoted to some important, ongoing system development mission.
The ART metaphor describes the program & portfolio level teams, roles & activities that incrementally deliver a continuous flow of value. ART’s are virtual organizations formed to span functional boundaries, eliminate unnecessary handoffs & steps and accelerate value delivery by implementing Scalable Lean-Agile principles and practices.
Agile Teams
Each ART is composed of 3 – 12 Agile teams (approximately 30 – 125+ people) and includes the roles & infrastructure necessary to deliver a fully working and tested product or system.
Program Increment (PI)
Is a timebox in which ART delivers incremental value. PI’s are typically 8 – 12 weeks long and the most common pattern for a PI is four development Iterations.
Innovative Product Ecosystem
Maximize your organization’s performance by incorporating innovation strategies and techniques into the core principles of your assets. PI’s are followed by an Innovation and Planning (IP) iteration.
Continuous Delivery Pipeline
This represents the workflows, activities and automation needed to provide constant releases, resulting in continuously increasing value to your end users.
